CHM Midwife & Home Birth in San Diego
You may be drawn to the personal relationship of midwifery care and use Christian Healthcare Ministries as part of your family’s financial planning. Before choosing care, it helps to understand how those two pieces could work together.
Start with the pregnancy and birth experience you hope for, then bring the proposed services to CHM for review under your current program. This page helps you prepare that discussion.
Our current relationship with Christian Healthcare Ministries (CHM)
Birthstone Midwifery has contacted CHM about provider relationships and maternity billing. A preferred-provider designation has not been confirmed. You can ask about care with Tayna without assuming that an inquiry creates an affiliation with CHM.
What to know before relying on sharing
CHM’s maternity information includes qualifying midwife and home-birth expenses. Its Maternity Care Solution describes a prepayment agreement and separate itemized bills for services outside that agreement. Program timing and member-responsibility requirements apply.
Make the global fee understandable
Ask for a description of prenatal care, birth attendance, and postpartum services included in the proposed agreement. Then identify outside laboratory, imaging, newborn, assistant, supply, or hospital charges. A single package price is useful only when everyone understands its boundaries. Give CHM the estimate before relying on a projected sharing amount, and ask which documents it needs from the practice.
Questions to ask Christian Healthcare Ministries (CHM)
- Which CHM program and membership dates apply to this pregnancy?
- Does my proposed midwife and birth setting meet the current maternity rules?
- What must the prepayment agreement contain, and when should I submit it?
- How would physician involvement or hospital transfer affect the midwife’s bill?
- Which newborn, lab, ultrasound, or lactation expenses require separate submission?
A planning situation worth discussing
If you have already paid for prenatal visits elsewhere, tell CHM and the practice before signing a new global maternity agreement. Ask how earlier care and a later change of provider will be handled; do not assume two packages can be shared in full.
Care with Tayna in San Diego County
Start with the care you want, your city, and your timing. Ask about prenatal care, home birth, or postpartum follow-up and request a written explanation of services and payment dates. A sharing organization’s approval does not determine clinical eligibility for home birth, and acceptance into care does not guarantee that a bill will be shared.
Health sharing is not health insurance. Keep a plan for your financial responsibility while eligibility and payment are being reviewed. We can discuss the documentation the practice can provide; the organization makes its own sharing decisions.

Thinking beyond the first estimate
As your pregnancy unfolds, a care plan or setting may change. Ask early how revised services, separate newborn charges, and updated bills should be documented.
The goal is a financial plan your family can follow alongside the care itself. Keep practice payment responsibilities separate from any expectation of future sharing.

A few questions, answered
Does Christian Healthcare Ministries guarantee payment for midwifery care?
No. Health sharing is not insurance, and a provider inquiry or practice agreement does not guarantee sharing. Confirm your current program’s maternity rules and obtain written guidance for the proposed services.
How should I begin planning care with Tayna?
Discuss your city, timing, and intended services in a complimentary 30-minute consultation. Request a written care estimate, then ask Christian Healthcare Ministries which membership rules and documentation apply. Clinical eligibility and sharing eligibility are separate decisions.
