Solidarity HealthShare & Midwifery in San Diego
Preparing for a baby can bring questions about your support, your care preferences, and the practical resources your family will use. If you belong to Solidarity HealthShare, maternity sharing belongs in that early conversation.
We can talk about the care you hope to arrange and its written agreement. Solidarity separately determines how its current guidelines apply to your membership, clinician, and proposed expenses.
Our current relationship with Solidarity HealthShare
Birthstone Midwifery has contacted Solidarity Provider Relations about a direct provider relationship. A signed direct agreement or preferred-provider designation has not been confirmed.
What to know before relying on sharing
Solidarity’s public maternity information includes midwifery and home-birth care. Its sharing documents describe program-specific exclusions, limitations, and member payment obligations; sharing is voluntary and unpaid bills remain the member’s responsibility.
Identify your exact program and care needs
Solidarity publishes more than one set of program guidelines. Ask which one applies to your membership before drawing conclusions from a general maternity description. Request service-specific guidance for your intended midwife, testing, birth setting, postpartum care, and feeding support. If fertility care is also on your mind, ask about it separately rather than treating maternity wording as fertility authorization.
Questions to ask Solidarity HealthShare
- Which Solidarity program and effective guidelines apply to my membership?
- What requirements apply to a California Licensed Midwife and a planned home birth?
- Is a direct provider agreement required or simply a billing arrangement?
- How do I submit a maternity estimate and final bills?
- Which newborn, feeding, testing, or fertility services need a separate review?
A planning situation worth discussing
A family can value a faith-sensitive care relationship without wanting assumptions made about its clinical preferences. Bring your wishes to the consultation, then ask the sharing organization to review the actual proposed services. Personal values, provider availability, and sharing eligibility are related conversations, but each needs its own clear answer.
Care with Tayna in San Diego County
Start with the care you want, your city, and your timing. Ask about prenatal care, home birth, or postpartum follow-up and request a written explanation of services and payment dates. A sharing organization’s approval does not determine clinical eligibility for home birth, and acceptance into care does not guarantee that a bill will be shared.
Health sharing is not health insurance. Keep a plan for your financial responsibility while eligibility and payment are being reviewed. We can discuss the documentation the practice can provide; the organization makes its own sharing decisions.

A little preparation for the weeks ahead
Ask for the full pathway from notification to final bills, including what happens if another clinician or care setting becomes involved. Keep those instructions with your estimate.
Being organized can help you see what is known and what is still awaiting review. Membership and a maternity inquiry do not guarantee sharing, so retain a plan for your financial responsibilities.

A few questions, answered
Does Solidarity HealthShare guarantee payment for midwifery care?
No. Health sharing is not insurance, and a provider inquiry or practice agreement does not guarantee sharing. Confirm your current program’s maternity rules and obtain written guidance for the proposed services.
How should I begin planning care with Tayna?
Discuss your city, timing, and intended services in a complimentary 30-minute consultation. Request a written care estimate, then ask Solidarity HealthShare which membership rules and documentation apply. Clinical eligibility and sharing eligibility are separate decisions.
