Medi-Share Midwife & Home Birth in San Diego

If you use Medi-Share and are exploring a midwife or home birth, you may be trying to connect a deeply personal care choice with unfamiliar program language. Begin with the care you want and the questions you need answered.

We can discuss current midwifery availability and a proposed care agreement. Medi-Share must separately review your membership and the relevant maternity guidelines.

Our current relationship with Medi-Share

Birthstone Midwifery has sent a participation inquiry to Medi-Share. Network status or a special provider arrangement has not been confirmed. A provider’s availability and a member’s sharing eligibility are separate matters.

What to know before relying on sharing

Medi-Share’s published guidelines identify Licensed Midwives and Certified Professional Midwives for maternity services within their state scope. Maternity sharing also has program-specific membership, household, timing, and financial requirements.

Check the program, not just the logo

Bring the full program name and the current guidelines to your planning conversation. A search result saying that Medi-Share can share maternity expenses does not establish that your pregnancy, provider, or planned place of service qualifies. Ask Medi-Share to identify the requirements that apply to you and the instructions for the provider’s bill.

Questions to ask Medi-Share

  • Which program and guidelines apply to my membership?
  • Do my membership dates and household circumstances meet maternity eligibility rules?
  • Is this California LM/CPM eligible for the exact maternity service?
  • Does a network or discount arrangement affect the price or submission process?
  • How are the maternity limit and any member responsibility applied if transfer becomes necessary?

A planning situation worth discussing

If a network name appears on your card, ask which role that network plays. A discount network can help determine a price without guaranteeing that an expense is shareable. Confirm both the price arrangement and the maternity eligibility decision before treating the amount as available funds.

Care with Tayna in San Diego County

Start with the care you want, your city, and your timing. Ask about prenatal care, home birth, or postpartum follow-up and request a written explanation of services and payment dates. A sharing organization’s approval does not determine clinical eligibility for home birth, and acceptance into care does not guarantee that a bill will be shared.

Health sharing is not health insurance. Keep a plan for your financial responsibility while eligibility and payment are being reviewed. We can discuss the documentation the practice can provide; the organization makes its own sharing decisions.

Preparing before the due date approaches

Deposits, service changes, and the timing of a sharing request are easier to discuss while there is time to plan. Ask what documents your family should keep from the first estimate onward.

Having those details in writing gives you something concrete to return to. Neither a provider inquiry nor acceptance into midwifery care guarantees that expenses will be shared.

A few questions, answered

Does Medi-Share guarantee payment for midwifery care?

No. Health sharing is not insurance, and a provider inquiry or practice agreement does not guarantee sharing. Confirm your current program’s maternity rules and obtain written guidance for the proposed services.

How should I begin planning care with Tayna?

Discuss your city, timing, and intended services in a complimentary 30-minute consultation. Request a written care estimate, then ask Medi-Share which membership rules and documentation apply. Clinical eligibility and sharing eligibility are separate decisions.
