Liberty HealthShare & Midwife Care in San Diego

Choosing care can involve imagining who will sit with you, explain a question, and support your preparations. If Liberty HealthShare is part of your financial plan, you also need to understand the steps between choosing care and requesting sharing.

This page helps you ask about your current program and the proposed services. The practice can explain its agreement and documentation; Liberty makes its own eligibility and sharing decisions.

Our current relationship with Liberty HealthShare

Birthstone Midwifery has contacted Liberty HealthShare about midwifery participation and maternity processes. No preferred-provider designation or direct agreement is announced on this page.

What to know before relying on sharing

Liberty’s provider prenotification resource asks members to notify it in advance for services requiring prenotification. Its maternity instructions request clinical information including the conception date. Program guidelines and individual circumstances determine eligibility.

Prenotification and scheduling are different steps

Booking a consultation with the practice does not notify Liberty of a pregnancy. Likewise, sending a notification does not automatically confirm an appointment or guarantee payment. Ask who must submit the information, what reference number will be issued, and which provider documents are required. Record the instructions in one place so deadlines do not disappear among other pregnancy tasks.

Questions to ask Liberty HealthShare

  • Does my exact Liberty program include maternity sharing?
  • What prenotification is required for my pregnancy and proposed midwife?
  • Which services need separate notification?
  • Does Liberty require the practice to submit a particular bill format?
  • What member responsibility and submission deadlines apply?

A planning situation worth discussing

If you are changing from an obstetric office to a midwife, contact the prenotification team about the proposed change. Ask whether the existing notice needs updating, and request an explanation of how each provider’s services should be documented. Share that guidance with the practice before arranging overlapping care.

Care with Tayna in San Diego County

Start with the care you want, your city, and your timing. Ask about prenatal care, home birth, or postpartum follow-up and request a written explanation of services and payment dates. A sharing organization’s approval does not determine clinical eligibility for home birth, and acceptance into care does not guarantee that a bill will be shared.

Health sharing is not health insurance. Keep a plan for your financial responsibility while eligibility and payment are being reviewed. We can discuss the documentation the practice can provide; the organization makes its own sharing decisions.

Settling the practical questions while there is time

Ask what needs to happen before services begin, who handles any required notification, and which documents your family will receive. A conversation now can help you organize the work around your appointments.

Keep copies of written instructions and confirm the dates on your care agreement. A submitted notification or provider inquiry is not the same as approval or payment.

A few questions, answered

Does Liberty HealthShare guarantee payment for midwifery care?

No. Health sharing is not insurance, and a provider inquiry or practice agreement does not guarantee sharing. Confirm your current program’s maternity rules and obtain written guidance for the proposed services.

How should I begin planning care with Tayna?

Discuss your city, timing, and intended services in a complimentary 30-minute consultation. Request a written care estimate, then ask Liberty HealthShare which membership rules and documentation apply. Clinical eligibility and sharing eligibility are separate decisions.
