Impact Health Sharing & Midwife Care in San Diego
You may have discovered midwifery care while looking for a more personal experience, then started asking whether Impact Health Sharing could be part of the financial plan. It is reasonable to want those answers before committing.
Tell us what care you are considering and what you need to understand about the agreement. Impact must confirm the rules that apply to your own membership and proposed maternity expenses.
Our current relationship with Impact Health Sharing
Impact responded to Birthstone Midwifery’s preferred-provider inquiry and directed the practice to its application process. A preferred-provider approval has not been confirmed. Please request current status rather than relying on a pending application.
What to know before relying on sharing
Impact’s current guidelines tie maternity eligibility to the documented estimated due date and membership start date. They allow one global maternity bill per pregnancy and describe how that rule applies when care moves from a midwife to a physician.
Plan for the single global-bill rule
Before signing a maternity package, ask Impact how it wants services documented if you have already seen another provider or later require transfer. A birth plan can remain flexible while the financial arrangement is made clear. Ask the practice for a service list and discuss how a revised agreement would be recorded if your care changes.
Questions to ask Impact Health Sharing
- Does my documented estimated due date meet the membership timing requirement?
- Is the proposed midwife and place of service eligible?
- How do the global-bill rules affect prior prenatal care or transfer?
- What member responsibility, co-share, and maternity limits apply?
- How are newborn enrollment and the baby’s separate expenses handled?
A planning situation worth discussing
If prenatal visits were paid individually before you requested a global maternity package, ask Impact to review the proposed documentation before submitting duplicate charges. Share accurate dates and service descriptions. The goal is a clear accounting of care, not relabeling a bill to make it appear eligible.
Care with Tayna in San Diego County
Start with the care you want, your city, and your timing. Ask about prenatal care, home birth, or postpartum follow-up and request a written explanation of services and payment dates. A sharing organization’s approval does not determine clinical eligibility for home birth, and acceptance into care does not guarantee that a bill will be shared.
Health sharing is not health insurance. Keep a plan for your financial responsibility while eligibility and payment are being reviewed. We can discuss the documentation the practice can provide; the organization makes its own sharing decisions.

Knowing which steps are complete
An application, a provider inquiry, and a final sharing decision represent different points in the process. Ask which step has actually been completed and what still needs a response.
A clear record helps you plan without treating a pending step as a promise. We can discuss the documentation available from the practice while you confirm your responsibilities with Impact.

A few questions, answered
Does Impact Health Sharing guarantee payment for midwifery care?
No. Health sharing is not insurance, and a provider inquiry or practice agreement does not guarantee sharing. Confirm your current program’s maternity rules and obtain written guidance for the proposed services.
How should I begin planning care with Tayna?
Discuss your city, timing, and intended services in a complimentary 30-minute consultation. Request a written care estimate, then ask Impact Health Sharing which membership rules and documentation apply. Clinical eligibility and sharing eligibility are separate decisions.
