Covenant HealthShare & San Diego Midwifery Questions
When you are preparing for a baby, a familiar program name can feel like a starting point. Before relying on Covenant HealthShare for maternity expenses, it is important to establish exactly which organization and current guidelines your membership uses.
We can discuss the care you want while you obtain those documents. At present, this page does not confirm a maternity allowance, provider agreement, or sharing approval for Covenant.
Our current relationship with Covenant HealthShare
Birthstone Midwifery sent a provider inquiry to Covenant HealthShare on October 26, 2026. A reply confirming maternity rules, a provider agreement, or a preferred-provider designation has not been established. This page records a pathway for questions, not an acceptance or coverage announcement.
What to know before relying on sharing
Covenant publishes separate guideline documents for Core, Crisis, Daily, and Choice memberships. Confirm which current document applies to your membership and request written guidance about your proposed clinician and services. This page does not establish individual maternity eligibility or a payment guarantee.
Start with the current documents
Ask the organization named on your membership documents for its full legal name, program name, current guidelines, member-services contact, and maternity submission instructions. A familiar name alone is not enough to identify the applicable program. Then ask it to review the intended clinician and proposed care estimate in writing.
Questions to ask Covenant HealthShare
- What is the full legal organization and program name on my membership?
- Where can I obtain the current, complete sharing guidelines?
- Does this program consider maternity expenses with a California LM/CPM?
- What timing, notification, member-payment, and submission conditions apply?
- Who decides eligibility, and what written response can I retain?
A planning situation worth discussing
If you cannot obtain current maternity rules, keep that uncertainty in your budget. Ask our practice about the care agreement and self-pay obligations without counting on a future sharing payment. Continue arranging necessary prenatal care with your established clinician while financial questions are resolved.
Care with Tayna in San Diego County
Start with the care you want, your city, and your timing. Ask about prenatal care, home birth, or postpartum follow-up and request a written explanation of services and payment dates. A sharing organization’s approval does not determine clinical eligibility for home birth, and acceptance into care does not guarantee that a bill will be shared.
Health sharing is not health insurance. Keep a plan for your financial responsibility while eligibility and payment are being reviewed. We can discuss the documentation the practice can provide; the organization makes its own sharing decisions.
Making room for an unanswered question
You do not have to treat uncertainty as an answer. Ask for the complete current documents and a written response about the proposed clinician and services.
While those questions are open, keep necessary care in place and plan for the payment responsibilities in any practice agreement. You deserve to know which details remain unsettled before making a financial commitment.

A few questions, answered
Does Covenant HealthShare guarantee payment for midwifery care?
No. Health sharing is not insurance, and a provider inquiry or practice agreement does not guarantee sharing. Confirm your current program’s maternity rules and obtain written guidance for the proposed services.
How should I begin planning care with Tayna?
Discuss your city, timing, and intended services in a complimentary 30-minute consultation. Request a written care estimate, then ask Covenant HealthShare which membership rules and documentation apply. Clinical eligibility and sharing eligibility are separate decisions.
