Community Health Group & Prenatal Care in San Diego
You may have found a style of prenatal care that feels right and now need to understand whether your Community Health Group plan can help you access it. That question deserves a clear answer before you rearrange the care you already have.
We begin with the service you are seeking, the clinician who would provide it, and the current participation record. Birthstone’s contracting work does not replace individual confirmation for your care.
A clear answer before you book
Birthstone Midwifery is working through Community Health Group contracting. Before care is booked, we confirm the effective participation record for the clinician, service, and location. Ask the practice and your plan to verify current participation and appointment availability.
Do not rely on an anticipated contract date or assume an arrangement for one practice name applies automatically to another.
Questions for your health plan
Ask whether the named clinician is participating for the proposed service and whether a referral, authorization, or assigned provider is required. Confirm the visit location and whether the benefit covers prenatal care, birth attendance, or another specific service.
Home birth needs a separate conversation
A prenatal benefit does not by itself establish coverage for a home birth. Request a written explanation of any practice charges, excluded services, and out-of-pocket obligations before enrolling.
Keep your care connected
If you already have prenatal care, maintain those appointments until any new arrangement has been accepted. Ask how records and results will be shared and who remains responsible for time-sensitive concerns.
Keeping a hoped-for change manageable
Changing care can involve both relief and uncertainty. While benefits and availability are being reviewed, keep the appointments and support already in place.
When the details are confirmed, ask us to explain the transition step by step: the authorization, the location, the records, and who follows up. You should know what is settled before making a change.
Request verification
Begin through our existing benefits-verification form, which opens under Birthstone Midwifery. Read insurance and payment for additional questions.
Questions, answered
Can I book based on a contracting announcement?
Current participation, service coverage, and any effective date must be verified directly before booking.
Should I change my assigned provider now?
Confirm that the intended clinician can accept your care and that your plan approves the arrangement before making a change.
You can begin with a conversation.
Tell Tayna what brings you here—the care you are hoping for, the questions you are carrying, or simply where you would like to start. We can talk through current availability and what the next step would involve.
