Expectant parents preparing their baby's nursery together

Childbirth and parenting classes in San Diego

If you’re visiting us as you prepare for a baby, congratulations. You can fold the little clothes and pack a bag, and still wonder what birth will feel like or how those first days at home will unfold.

Preparing together means more than gathering supplies. It means having a conversation with the people who will support you: what matters to you, what you want to learn, and how you can help one another when the day arrives.

Our education pages are a place to begin turning those questions into conversations—with your care team and with the people who will support you.

A place for the questions you have not asked yet

Perhaps your partner wants to know how to help during labor. Perhaps you are wondering how to speak up when a recommendation changes. You may want practical preparation, reassurance about asking questions, or a refresher after a previous birth.

You do not need a completed birth plan or the right vocabulary to start learning. Tell us the topics you want to understand and who will be preparing alongside you.

Preparing for birth together

Useful preparation helps your support people understand you: what steadies you, what kind of communication helps, and how you want decisions discussed. The aim is a shared conversation you can return to when the day arrives.

Ask about education covering comfort and support, communicating preferences, care-team roles, and changes in birth setting. Clinical decisions still belong with your own provider; a class does not determine which treatment or setting is appropriate.

Looking ahead to the first weeks

It is easy for preparation to stop at the moment of birth. We also encourage you to picture the days afterward: feeding, recovery, getting to know your baby, and accepting practical help.

New-parent topics may include feeding preparation, newborn-care questions, and organizing support at home. Explore feeding support and postpartum planning as you decide what education would be most useful.

Find the learning option that fits

You may prefer a group, want to include a support person, or need an individual conversation about something personal. Share your intended birth setting, preferred format, accessibility or language needs, and questions.

Current class dates, instructors, locations, length, fees, partner attendance, materials, and cancellation terms are confirmed directly or in a current registration listing. This page does not announce an operating San Diego classroom or a fixed recurring schedule. Ask about the next available option before registering.

Questions, answered

Are class dates published here?

Current dates and registration details are confirmed directly until a live class schedule is available.

Can a partner or support person join?

Ask about the attendance policy for the specific class. We encourage preparation that includes the people supporting you.

You can begin with a conversation.

Tell Tayna what brings you here—the care you are hoping for, the questions you are carrying, or simply where you would like to start. We can talk through current availability and what the next step would involve.
